Honda City i-VTEC launched

Honda has launched their third generation Honda City in India. The new model is a massive improvement over the earlier version of the City, though slightly pricier.

Photo: New Honda City - sharp!

Photo: New Honda City - sharp!

The new Honda City comes with a 1500 cc i-VTEC engine, with both automatic and manual transmissions and comes at a price of rs Rs 7.7 lakh and Rs 8.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Honda hopes that the new City would help the company arrest the ongoing sales decline in the Indian car market and improve sales.

Which is a better car? The All New Honda City or the Fiat Linea? Here is a ready reckoner – Honda City vs Fiat linea

Diwali and the festive season is approaching, and this is the right time to launch cars in India as purchases go up – and Honda wants to cash in on whatever is possible at this time.
Great new interiors in the new Honda City

Great new interiors in the new Honda City

There are three trim levels for the new City, as well as six colours – and a nice 2-year warranty. Honda, of course, really does not even need to actively sell the car in India. Honda is a highly respected brand in India for its very reliable cars.

Bookings for the new Honda City -VTEC will begin today, even though car deliveries would start only in November 2008.
New Honda City – Design
New Honda City i-VTEC: Smart rear end!

New Honda City i-VTEC: Smart rear end!

The earlier Hodna City was not to everyone’s liking – some called it space-age, but any thought it was just odd. With the new Honda City, you would not have any such complaints. This truly is a space-age dsign from the front, and evokes images of the Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell car as well as the new Accord or Acura, while from the side, it is quite like a Honda Civic.

The headlights are sharp and angular, there is a lot of steel on the grill, rear combination lights look sharp and snazzy. Flanks are neat and clean. Honda calls the design of the new City an ‘arrow shot form’.

The new Honda City is longer, wider and sturdier, says Honda. It is 4420 mm long – 5 mm longer than the old City, it is wider by 5 mm (1695 mm) and 15mm shorter while still giving you the same ground clearance and headspace. Wheelbase is now longer by 100 mm.
Integrated audio, and Civic steering wheel in the new City!

Integrated audio, and Civic steering wheel in the new City!

Interiors are much improved and smarter with a steering wheel that is borrowed from the Civic (but with added steeign wheel controls – aargh! – I don’t have that even in my Civic!), 5 Speed Automatic Transmission with a Paddle Shift option like in the Civic (as I said earlier, a first in its class), dual tone interiors, integrated audio system, great looking meters and dials. The interior design matches or even beats the Honda Civic.
New Honda City – i-VTEC engine

The 1500 cc i-VTEC engine in the new Honda City produces 118 PS – I think that is somewhat close to 115 or so bhp. Everyone, stand up and bow to the new mid-size emperor.
New Honda City – safety
Sleek - does the new Honda City look a bit like the Civic?

Sleek - does the new Honda City look a bit like the Civic?

All your complaints about the old Honda City are now over. There is a bunch of active and passive safety features such as the ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with Brake Assist (BA), Dual SRS airbags, pre-tensioner seat belts and G-CON (G-Force Control Technology) body with a crush-proof survival zone. Nothing much to complain about there.
Entertainment options

The new integrated audio system in the new City is even better than the Civic. You can plug in a pile of gadgets such as an iPOD, MP3player, USB Memory or cell phone with MP3 Player.

There is even a fuel consumption indicator to ensure you get the best possible mileage.
Competition for the New City
New fuel and mileage meters

New fuel and mileage meters

Maruti SX4. But the launch of the new City is going to raise expectations to a much higher level. If the car can put on the road, all that it promises on paper, Honda will maintain and strengthen its hold on the mid-size sedan market in India.

The upcoming Fiat Linea could offer some substantial competition to the new Honda City – but the details and trim levels of that car remain to be seen. And in pure brand name stakes, FIAT does not hold a candle to Honda in the Indian market.

Overall the new Honda City is a great car, priced well, well-specified and launched at the right time to tempt those who were considering an SX4, or even those who were eyeing the recently launched Corolla Altis.

Now all we have to do is to wait for the first few road tests of the new City -VTEC. I think we won’t be disappointed there.

Honda Civic Review

Think of trend setters and the Honda Civic is the name on your mind when it comes to affordable and spirited small cars. With a body styling that makes heads turn, and a performance that delights, the Honda Civic is certainly an unbeatable choice for comfort and fun. A lot has changed from the popular Civic of the 70s. What we have right now in 2009 is a very different looking car with the same name to remind fans of its terrific reputation.

As a coupe (2-door) or Sedan (4-door), the 2009 Honda Civic comes in a wide variety of trims such as DX, LX, EX, EX-L and the Si, to cater to all tastes and needs. What’s more, you also get spoilt for choice between the DX Value Package, the Hybrid, the LX-S, and also the GX. With every other review praising the 2009 Honda Civic, it comes as no surprise that the car offers a wide variety of features ranging from the basic tilt/telescoping steering wheel and power windows in the DX to the sport-tuned suspension, fog-lights and sports seats in the 2009 Honda Civic Si.

Did you know that the US News & World Report ranked the 2008 Honda Civic as no.1 in the “Affordable small cars” segment? Performance is quite commendable; with the basic trims like DX, LX and EX providing 140 horsepower while the Honda Civic Si goes a step further, offering an impressive 197 hp.

This helps it accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 7.1 seconds. That can be a great plus point for adrenaline filled drivers looking for some thrill with their family cars. Also continuously variable automatic transmission is available with the hybrid engine. Five-speed manual transmission is standard on base trims while you could go for the optional automatic transmission if you wish.

Your kids will love it, your wife will adore it and you can flaunt it. It is one car for those who want to stay a step ahead in their lives and on road.

Summing up, the Civic comes with plush interiors, some interesting options and a host of safety features, coupled with excellent pricing and performance. This could surely be the car for you.

Toyota Press Release:

Toyota Unveils All-New, 10th Generation Corolla At 2007 SEMA Show

October 31, 2007 – Las Vegas - Toyota Motor Sales
(TMS), U.S.A., Inc., unveiled the all-new 10th generation Corolla sedan at a press conference today at the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

"Nearly 40 years after the Corolla was introduced to American drivers, the 2009 Toyota Corolla will continue to offer the quality and value for which the brand has long been known," said Tim Morrison, Toyota Division corporate marketing manager. "In style and substance, the tenth-generation Corolla will have a strong, new identity, all its own. It will be far more than merely
the next-generation Corolla and will position itself perfectly above our entry-level Yaris and below our sales leader, the Camry."

Originally launched in Japan in 1966, Corolla first arrived in America in 1968 to instant success. For nearly four decades, Corolla has been synonymous with Toyota quality, style and value, earning a distinction as one of the most trusted cars in America. Over that span more than 30 million Corollas have been sold worldwide, making it one of the best-selling cars of all time. Send through Y!M E-mail this
2009 Toyota Corolla Gallery: 2009 Toyota Corolla
The 2009 Toyota Corolla remains true to the brand’s role as a subcompact sedan, with dimensions similar to the model it replaces. But it offers an all-new body with a lean, stylish shape, and it delivers increased interior and luggage room, more power, more economical engines and an all-new chassis and suspension.

The 2009 Toyota Corolla will come in five grades – Standard, LE, XLE, the sporty S, and the performance-driven XRS.
The Corolla’s wide, low profile was developed by Toyota Design in collaboration with styling studios in Turin, Italy. Its foundation was set by the search for a lower, sportier shape than that of the previous Corolla. That search drove the decision to move the bottom of the A-pillar forward and the bottom of the C-pillar aft to increase the angle of the window glass and to improve the Corolla’s aerodynamic performance.

The standard body kit on S and XRS models helps to modify aerodynamics and enhance the Corolla’s sporty look – these include a front underbody spoiler, fog lamps, rocker moldings, upper and lower rear spoilers, and for improved air management under the car, engine undercovers.
The 2009 Toyota Corolla’s interior is sporty and distinctive – with roomy-feeling comfort. While Corolla maintains the same headroom, legroom and shoulder room as the previous model, it feels larger, thanks to a design that enhances comfort and improves utility, usability and storage.

A variety of useable, easy-to-reach storage spaces add convenience and usability to the 2009 Toyota Corolla’s interior. These include center console side pockets, a storage box above the usual glove box, front and rear door pockets that can safely hold 20-ounce bottles, a console box with a large-capacity main tray and a smaller accessory tray, an overhead console useful for storage of sunglasses or garage-door openers, and a rear-seat center armrest with an integral drink holder.

Map lights that illuminate independently are supplied for both driver and front passenger. And to aid in ingress and egress, retractable handgrips are supplied above each door opening.

The Standard, LE and XLE models will be equipped with an all-new 1.8-liter engine. The 16-valve, DOHC four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence), produces 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Corolla models equipped with the 1.8-liter engine will achieve preliminary EPA city/highway fuel economy ratings of 27/35 mpg.

A five-speed manual transmission is standard with the 1.8-liter engine, and a four-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT) will also be available.

For those who crave just a bit more horsepower and torque, there is the 2.4-liter engine. This engine is completely redesigned for use in the 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS grade. The 16-valve DOHC engine with VVT-i produces 158 hp at 6,000 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Preliminary EPA city/highway fuel economy for the 2.4-liter engine is 22/30 mpg.

The 2.4-liter engine will be paired with standard five-speed manual and optional five-speed automatic transmissions.

Safety features on the 2009 Toyota Corolla include standard driver and front passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and two-row side curtain airbags.

Front seats employ active headrests as standard equipment. When the vehicle is struck from the rear, a cable-actuated mechanism in the active headrest moves the headrest upward and forward to limit the movement of the seat occupant’s head.

Toyota’s Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is standard on all grades of the Corolla and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control (TRAC) and an off switch is available.

The 2009 Toyota Corolla will be loaded with a comprehensive list of standard performance and convenience features. All models will be equipped with a heavy duty rear window defogger, AM/FM/CD audio with four speakers that is also XM® satellite capable, auxiliary audio input jack, air conditioning with air filter, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seats, and much more.

The sporty S grade will feature standard P205/55R16 tires with full wheel covers, color-keyed front and rear underbody spoilers, fog lamps, front sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, black headlamp housing, chrome exhaust tip and AM/FM/CD XM® capable audio with six speakers.

In addition to S grade features, the XRS grade adds a rear deck spoiler, P215/45 R17 tires with alloy wheels, sport strut tower brace, VSC with TRAC and an off switch, XRS scuff plate, leather-trimmed shift lever and knob, cruise control and an interior chrome accent.

An impressive list of optional comfort and utility features will be available to further enhance the Corolla driving experience such as AM/FM/six-disc CD changer with MP3/WMA playback capability, satellite radio (subscription required) and six speakers, a power package that includes power windows and door locks. Additional options on select grades include JBL Audio system with AM/FM six-disc CD changer with eight speakers and Bluetooth®, Navigation system with AM/FM CD with MP3/WMA playback capability and XM® satellite radio with XM NavTraffic® capable with six speakers, leather-trimmed seats and shift knob, tilt and slide moonroof, VSC with TRAC and cut-off switch.

The 2009 Toyota Corolla will reach Toyota dealerships in February 2008.

Latest Mitsubishi Pajero Specifications

Latest Mitsubishi Pajero Specifications of Different Models
Mitsubishi Pajero has come a long way since its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1981. Success was not one of the first things that greeted Mitsubishi Pajero after its launch, for its initial years were marked by a lukewarm market response. Mitsubishi seemed to be straddling the unsure ground between a family car and a commercial car. Few adjustments like five doors (it was a three door initially), longer wheel base etc, which followed in subsequent years injected some life to the sales. Mitsubishi Pajero has now entered its Fourth Generation phase following its unveiling at the Paris Motor Show on 30th September 2006.

Features of Mitsubishi Pajero

Mitsubishi Pajero is built for rough times and the strongest affirmation of this comes each time the road opens up with promises of a difficult ride ahead. Light weight high-tensile steel, known for immense strength, is a chief constituent in Mitsubishi Pajero's body. The secret behind Mitsubishi Pajero's coolness in the harshest of conditions lies in its 2.8 litre Turbocharged Intercooler engine.

Mitsubishi Pajero, equipped as it is with 5-speed gearbox with Super Select 4WD, provides the greatest thrills of rough riding.

Safety Features

Mitsubishi Pajero has crumble zones to protect the passengers from receiving any injuries in the event of any accident. The windows have anti-trapping power windows which provide safety during adverse situations. Also the fuel tank is located higher than in most other cars, this minimizes major accidents.

Mitsubishi Eclipse specs

Attractive, author interior, undated shape of the panel, pleasantly performed body and dependable instrumentation demonstrate that Mitsubishi Eclipse was styled by intelligent developers. Their setting was exceptionally marvellous, nonetheless provided clients could request to get supplementary upgrades, the experienced developers must be able to update Mitsubishi Eclipse to your subjective favor in perfection shops and to gear a number of novelties. For a substantial charge, for sure.

Mitsubishi Eclipse was a wonderful cabriolet. I used one, and I think that it could be the most infallible car ever made. Mine cannot go from the singular try a lone time in 3 years of great use, it was -29 here, and I might naturally excuse this small crab. I figure that I am a Mitsubishi Eclipse adorer. lol While I could be forced to forestall owners that this cabriolet was quite straight, you could be forced to have regard to the servicing. It might serve for that, certainly.

An exceptional motor-car. Mitsubishi Eclipse would rather concent most exigent lizzie owners featuring an enough ample saloon, high-end graith utilised in both trim and outfit of the car. The propulsions of the motor-cars of this run should differ by vigour and besides dependability. The guiding can not be extremely stiff. I deem that Mitsubishi Eclipse should be one of the best cars I then drove in my life.

Advanced mechanical data of Mitsubishi Eclipse can permit this caterogy of cabriolets to keep a leading grade among alternative cabriolets of various manufacturers. Cabriolet buyers continuously bring about the extremely reliable instrumentation of this automobile. While any car would bear some disadvantage, and in the instance with Mitsubishi Eclipse it would be the really cramped trunk compartment, which may not be extremely inconvenient given clients would not be told to carry large burdens.

Mitsubishi Eclipse specs

Cabriolet proprietors might manage to use Mitsubishi Eclipse in any approach they will want to, while they will be forced to stick to a sole thing: clacking shuts is not the most welcomed thing you might do to the discussed autocar. Many cabriolet proprietors might take to using their cars harshly, although Mitsubishi Eclipse may not bear this kind of a relation, and so people may be supposed to be gentle, in particular with this very thing.

Hey, when I was told that this producer offered Mitsubishi Eclipse and saw its flack ina paper I didn't definitely consider that I could buy the commented machine, because I have prior used a car from the akin group, and I might not arrive to tell you that I was extremely enthusiastic about it. Still, I wanted to enquire about the mechanic data of Mitsubishi Eclipse, and they should look truly balmy, so I consented to cope it, it's marvellous!

The power of Mitsubishi Eclipse did demonstrate a balmy mix of unimportant petrol intake with important virtue which is not simple for for a great deal of different vehicles. That was achieved by the practic change gear. More, I could want to bring about the dependable brakes, which can never disillusion you. In general, Mitsubishi Eclipse was a top-market vehicle, balmy in controlling, economy and considerably secure, imho was enough to introduce it as a hunky car.
